Wow can I tell you, that a breakfast can make or break your day. Saying that I usually don’t take my own advice. In theory, my alarm goes off at 6:30am, allowing me to take a shower, make a substantial breakfast, and leaving at 7:20am for a car pool…haha, but does this ever happen? Maybe it did on the first day of school. This is how it happens days: Alarm goes off at 6:30am, sleep in until 7:00am, take a shower, make some instant oatmeal, and leave at 7:20. Now the reason I say this is because I can definitely tell the difference between the days I skimp in the morning, and mornings I have time to eat right. When I go to 1st period, I cannot focus, learn, or stay awake. I’ve noticed, and many others have, that nearly everyone is slower and more drowsy in 1st period, compared to after lunch. It looks like there’s a pretty good connection between eating and attentiveness. So if your like me, you’ll ask, “how am I supposed to make a huge, healthy breakfast in 10 minutes”. Well it doesn’t have to be huge, and it’s a lot more simple than one may think.
So here’s some of my ideas for a quick, healthy, balanced breakfast
- Waffles/Pancakes (make the batter the night before)
- Eggs; on toast, w/ salsa, in a hash, sunny side up, hard-boiled,
- Yogurt smoothie
- Breakfast Burrito
- Yogurt with berries
